Microsoft pushing new software updates for Surface Duo and Surface Duo 2

Microsoft has started pushing the new software for the OG Surface Duo and it comes with the firmware version 2022.815.152. Meanwhile, the Microsoft Surface Duo 2 has picked up the new update with the build number 2022.815.179. Similar to the Windows updates, Microsoft has confirmed the information about the latest major software update for the Surface devices. The new software update is available for unlocked Surface Duo devices in Europe and North America. If you own a carrier-locked unlocked AT&T Surface Duo, then you’ll have to wait for some days to get the taste of the latest update. If you own a Surface Duo 2, you’ll be able to upgrade your device right away.

Changelog for the new Microsoft updates

In terms of changes and new features, the Android 12L will bring a major overhaul to the Microsoft Surface Duo lineup. It includes the Android 12L’s new dynamic theming engine with color palette support, updated widgets, new fluent UI design in the quick panel, multitasking features, Windows-inspired wallpapers, and more. The update will also bring a feature called “Pen Menu”. If you’ve got a Surface Slim Pen 2, you’ll be able to press the button and choose an action that you want to perform. Other than that, the update will also bring new accessibility tools, easier data transfer support between two devices, privacy features, battery usage optimizations, and more. The update would bump up the monthly security version to October 2022.
